Ricardo WAVE Post Processor
In Formula SAE, engine simulation is critical to engine selection. The purpose of the Ricardo WAVE model is to be able to quickly change variables such as runner lengths, exhaust combinations, and fueling parameters. This allowed us to preliminary understand the most optimized setups before design and manufacturing. It also gave a good target for what the volumetric efficiency and torque curve should look like after the engine package is assembled and tested.
The Powertrain Team Lead had developed the model. However viewing the data generated by the simulation was not optimal. I developed a custom post-processor that allowed us to visualize simulation data quickly, in 3 dimensions. This was done via a MATLAB script.
